Vegans For Food Justice

The Vegans for Food Justice program provides education that promotes and supports a shift toward creating alternative food systems that are devoid of the use of animal exploitation.

About the Program

The food justice movement engages in discussions that promote and support alternative food systems, that often support practices such as urban gardens, farmers markets, community supported agriculture, and raising animals in backyards, and on small farms, as a way to counter large scale agriculture and factory farming.

Sadly, much of the literature and available information on food justice does not discuss or promote veganism as a more sustainable and fairer practice than eating animals regardless of how they are raised. In addition, the food justice movement rarely engages with veganic farming practices, which support the growing of food without the exploitation of other sentient beings.

The Grow Your Own Food Program is intended to encourage more vegans and non-vegans to get involved in growing their own vegetables and fruits, and also to become active participants in the food justice movement from an  ethical vegan’s perspective.
